COMMON HOLLY (Ilex aquifolium)
The common holly is slow growing tree reaching a height of over 60 feet.
It can be found in the British isles and in some parts of Europe.
It has dark green spiney leaves all year round and produces white flowers from May to July and red berries in the autumn. There are both male and female plants, but only the female produces berries.
The female has to be close to a male to produce berries.
